Chango Pepper is the project that brings together my artistic work. I’m a Belgian-Chilean songwriter and animation learner. I turn to art to express myself through simple melodies and drawings, shaped by memories and the full sweep of emotions that make a life.
Chango is the name of the early coastal people from the north of my origin country, Chile, and the Pepper tree is one of the few trees able to survive in the dryness of the Atacama Desert — two quiet symbols of resilience that give the project its tone.
Tragedia de Cerdo Asado (Tragedy of Roasted Pig) screened as part of the Open Studio Day of the Academie voor Beeldende Kunst Gent — performing live alongside the animation. An evening of films by students, youth, and adults. Continuous screenings 17h00–21h00. Free to attend.
